On Saturday evening, multiple emergency calls from attendees of the Wehrden Town Fair reached the police around 10:30 PM, reporting that a masked man had just fired a gun into the air on the Wehrden Square and fled on foot. Within minutes, the suspect was apprehended by the police approximately 500 meters from the festival grounds in Völklingen.
Upon searching the suspect, who was an 18-year-old man from Völklingen, a storm hat and a stun gun were found.
Investigations into the circumstances revealed that the 18-year-old intended to intimidate the companion of his ex-girlfriend, with whom he was celebrating at the Wehrden Town Fair. The suspect was released from police custody after the stun gun and storm hat were secured.
Investigations have been launched against the 18-year-old for suspected intimidation and violation of weapons laws.
