Whether you order a Saarland-style Lyoner pan or Armenian saltimbocca – everything is freshly prepared and lovingly cooked by Liviu, his brother Rafik, and their mother. Liviu is a trained chef, having completed his training in Germany and worked for many years at the "Sausalitos" cult restaurant in Saarbrücken. Two years ago, he and his brother decided to start their own thing. The Café Bistro am Markt had captured their hearts; they were determined to settle in Lebach at this beautiful location, as they recount. Since then, a lot has happened at the Café Bistro am Markt. Everything has been renovated and redesigned. Even the counter is a real eye-catcher and was – just like everything else – designed and built by the family themselves.
On all days (except Wednesday), the Armenian-Saarland bistro offers lunch, and on Thursdays as well as weekends, the kitchen is open continuously until 8 p.m. In a cozy atmosphere, the ground-floor bistro-restaurant can accommodate a total of 65 to 70 people. The two rooms are also suitable for private events such as family or Christmas parties. From spring to autumn, the dishes can also be enjoyed outdoors in the pedestrian zone.
While all hot dishes, side dishes, and dips are now delivered free of charge within a radius of 7 km (Lieferando.de), the sweet treats can only be enjoyed on site. "The homemade cakes are really great," explains Mayor Klauspeter Brill during the official visit with Economic Development Officer Roman Werth. On a Sunday walk, the town hall chief has often stopped by the Café Bistro Am Markt.
"We want people to enjoy good food here, sit comfortably, and appreciate the ambiance," explains Liviu Alexandru Buzticiviu. "We cook in a straightforward way and with a lot of heart. The same goes for the wide variety of cakes that our mom bakes fresh several times a week."
Economic promoter Roman Werth especially praises the commitment of the family business. "Whether at events in the pedestrian zone, at the Theelfeschd or events on the festival grounds La Motte – the warm-hearted team from Café Bistro Am Markt is always there and offers its good cuisine on-site. "Lebach is such a beautiful town and has a lot to offer," enthuses Rafik, who grew up here and lives with his family on Weinheckstraße.
