Inclusive swing in the outdoor pool officially inaugurated
The Saarwellingen outdoor pool now offers special play fun for children with disabilities: On June 23, 2026, an inclusive swing was officially handed over for use.
In addition to the already existing play equipment for children, it was a special concern of the Disabled Advisory Board of the municipality of Saarwellingen to also create a play option for children with disabilities. Thanks to the new inclusive swing, they can now actively participate in the shared play activities. The children are securely placed in the specially designed seat and can swing together in this way.
The playground equipment was financed from the budget of the Disability Advisory Board. In previous years, the Disability Advisory Board has regularly used its budget to make the Saarwellingen outdoor pool more accessible and thus better accessible for people with disabilities. For example, a new crank for the cable winch, which allows wheelchair users to safely enter the water, a shower bed, new toilet chairs, an accessible soap dish, and an accident reporting system for the showers were purchased.
With the inclusive swing, a play option for children with inclusion needs has now been specifically created for the first time. Together with the building department, the appropriate play equipment was selected, ordered, and finally professionally installed by the public works department.
At the official inauguration, Mayor Dr. Horst Brünnet and Building Department Head David Neu were present on site together with the Disability Commissioner Jochen Schwarz and his deputy Nadine Werth.
With the inclusive swing, the community is making another statement for more participation and accessibility – so that play and joy at the Saarwellingen outdoor pool are a matter of course for all children.
