On Wednesday, June 24, 2026, the city of St. Ingbert took part in the nationwide action day for the first time with its own Digital Day. From 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., citizens were able to get to know, try out, and receive individual advice on the digital services offered by the city administration at the town hall.
Despite the midsummer temperatures, numerous interested parties took the opportunity to learn about the diverse digital service offerings. Although the heat resulted in slightly fewer visitors than hoped for, it enabled particularly intensive conversations and personalized support for the guests by the staff.
A special highlight was the launch of the new AI chatbot INGO, which was officially put into operation precisely at 9 o'clock. The digital assistant will assist administrative customers in the future to quickly and easily get answers to questions about the city administration's services, thus facilitating access to the administrative offerings.
At numerous information booths, visitors were able to learn about the city's service portal, online applications, the BundID, and digital file management. The activation of the online ID function, the presentation of digital passport photos via smartphone, as well as information on digital registration processes and online services in the vehicle sector also received great acclaim.
In addition, the city presented its digital communication services such as the INGO app and the WhatsApp channel, and directly assisted interested individuals in setting them up on their mobile devices.
Leisure, education, and culture were also well represented. Presented were, among other things, digital hiking offers from the Saarpfalz district, the "Lauschtour" as a digital city tour, action bounds for families, as well as various tours via Outdooractive and Komoot.
The program was complemented by information about the digital newspaper archive, the services of the city library such as Onleihe Saar, Filmfriend, and Tigerbooks, as well as the presentation of VHS courses for digital participation for senior women and men, which teach how to use smartphones and the internet.
Mayor Dr. Ulli Meyer emphasizes: "Digitalization is much more than a modernization project for the administration. It is an important building block for the digital participation of our citizens. That is why we deliberately focus on low-threshold offers that make access to digital administrative services easy and understandable. Those who can handle their official matters conveniently from home save time and travel. At the same time, we can make administrative processes more efficient and process applications faster. This is a real win-win situation – for the people in our city and for our administration."
With the first Digital Day, the city of St. Ingbert has made a successful start and presented its digital services to a wide audience. The feedback provides important impulses for further development. The city of St. Ingbert will consistently continue its path of digitalization.
