The use of e-scooters is not allowed in Merzig pedestrian zones
As of 06.02.2026, the regulation on small electric vehicles (eKFV) was amended. Since then, e-scooters are allowed nationwide on all traffic areas that are also open to bicycle traffic. Regardless of this, the use of e-scooters in the pedestrian zones of Merzig is still to remain prohibited, as they pose an increased risk of accidents and pedestrian zones are intended to be especially protected areas reserved for pedestrian traffic.
