Saarpfalz-Touristik, Paradeplatz 4, 66440 Blieskastel Press Release March 26, 2026 The Tasty Landscape A Not Only Culinary Hike Participants of the tour "The Tasty Landscape – a Culinary Hike" will gain not only culinary "insights" into the Bliesgau Biosphere Reserve. Under the expert guidance of certified nature and landscape guide Eva Hubert, a partner of the Bliesgau Biosphere Reserve, interesting information about the unique nature of the biosphere reserve is conveyed between the culinary stops. The hike starts on Saturday, June 27th at 9:30 a.m. at the sports field in Niederwürzbach. The hike initially leads to the water pump house in Ommersheim, where guests receive an insight into beekeeping in the region from Jan and Claudia Flieger, including a tasting of various honey varieties. Strengthened by the "liquid gold," the group continues to the Biolandhof Wack on Römerweg near Ommersheim. Along the way, chickens or sometimes pigs can be observed, and at the open farm shop of Biolandhof Wack, Monika Wack welcomes participants and presents the farm’s own products. For example, the eggs from the farm and other products are offered at the farm’s self-service refreshment point, called the "Milichheisje." The next stage leads back past the beautiful Seelbach stream to the Würzbacher Weiher (Würzbach Pond), which stands out especially in spring with its bright colors and invites visitors to linger on benches or in local gastronomy. Eva Hubert will accompany the participants around the pond, sharing interesting information along the way. The hike then continues back to the meeting point at the sports field in Niederwürzbach. There, participants travel to Hubertushof Born and are welcomed by the Hennrich family and nature and landscape guide Peter Hartmann. After a refreshing drink, Peter Hartmann sharpens all taste buds with an oil tasting. The flavor nuances of oils made from local ingredients are indeed very different. Although linseed oil and camelina oil sound similar, they taste quite different and, of course, are made from different plants. The oil specialist also brings other local oils such as hemp, mustard, and milk thistle oil. To conclude the approximately seven-hour tour, the Hubertushof Born team pampers the hikers with a cozy dinner prepared predominantly from regional products. Participation costs 59 euros per person, including tour guidance, all tastings, and dinner. The further dates for the "Culinary Hike" are on Saturdays: September 27 and October 10.
