“The FDP's election program is a roadmap for an economic turnaround. Especially in Saarland, which is particularly affected by the transformation of the industry and suffers from massive job losses, we need a clear economic policy strategy.
The FDP stands for a noticeable relief for citizens and businesses alike. We aim to reduce the corporate tax burden to 25 percent in the medium term, completely abolish the solidarity surcharge, and reduce the corporation tax. A three-year moratorium on new regulations and bureaucracy is intended to give companies and the self-employed more room to breathe.
With tax cuts and shifting the top tax rate to an income just under 100,000 euros, we want to ensure that more net income remains from the gross. At the same time, we call for a fundamental reform of citizen's income to create more incentives for work.
In migration policy, more order and control are needed: Immigration into the labor market should be facilitated, but access to the welfare state should be limited. Social benefits for foreigners obliged to leave the country must be abolished. Furthermore, we advocate conducting asylum procedures in safe third countries in the future.
In education policy, we aim for nationwide uniform daycare quality standards and want to establish economics and computer science as school subjects. For a future-proof retirement provision, we rely on the introduction of a retirement savings account and the equity pension.
Technological openness and innovation are at the core of our progressive agenda in the transport sector. The immediate lifting of the ban on combustion engines is a crucial step, which is also vital for the automotive industry in Saarland. We clearly reject a general speed limit. As a member of the program committee, it was a special concern of mine to set these liberal impulses for mobility.
Across all sectors, we want to drive digitalization forward and centralize all digital matters at the federal level with a Digital Ministry. The Saarland, with its emerging IT industry and excellent research expertise, also needs these impulses to further develop as a future-proof IT location.
The Free Democrats stand for innovation, relief, and liberal economic reforms. Only in this way can we secure the prosperity and quality of life for the people. I look forward to actively representing this course together with our members, the citizens, and our partners in Berlin and Saarland.”
