The work, which offers numerous illustrations and interesting insights on 127 pages, is a valuable collection of dialect expressions and stories from the homeland. It was published by the municipality of Saarwellingen in collaboration with the Saarwellingen Local History and Tourism Association and compiled by Rita Fritz, Norbert Müller-Adams, Klaus Puhl, Cornelia Rohe, and Josef Thönes. The basis consists of extensive publications and records from well-known Saarwellingen local historians such as Ludwig Warken, Hermann Kerpen, Josef Sander, Klaus Mayer, and Alfred Eisenbarth. Over the years, these researchers have gathered and compiled valuable material on the local dialect.
With "So schwätze mia én Wellingen!" a piece of Saarwellingen language history is now presented in a reader-friendly form. The dialect is not only examined scientifically but also brought to life with a wink. The book aims to help keep the local dialect alive and perhaps integrate it a bit more into everyday life again.
It is aimed at all those who want to preserve their linguistic roots – whether as a gift for "Freemen," "Furtgezoanen," or "dahemm Gebliewene." A piece of Saarwellinger culture that charmingly honors the region and its language.
From December 4, 2024, the new publication will be available for €12 at the information desk in Saarwellingen Town Hall.
