Even before the emergency responders arrived, the dog had already purposefully made its way along Hallerstraße towards the Geislautern motorway entrance, being on foot pursued by animal lovers. The chosen route subsequently led the dog directly onto the BAB 620 motorway, heading towards Saarbrücken. Since the dog naturally used the entire width of the roadway here as well, the motorway had to be temporarily closed completely in the affected area to prevent danger to the dog and other road users. All attempts to catch the dog failed, as it did not allow any approach and was not impressed by treats either. Consequently, the dog was coaxed off the motorway at the next exit, Völklingen-City, with the help of a patrol car. After leaving the motorway, it continued its way unbothered towards Fürstenhausen via Vereinshausstraße towards the street Am Hasseleich. Here too, all efforts to capture the dog, both by the police and numerous residents, were unsuccessful. Subsequently, the trail was lost in the adjacent Warndtwald forest and the pursuit had to be abandoned. Shortly thereafter, the dog's owner contacted the police station to report her dog as missing. It turned out that the dog's journey had begun in Wadgassen. The escape thus covered a distance of about eight kilometers. The concerned dog owner was then given a detailed description of the last known location of her dog. In the course of the afternoon, the dog owner reported that she had found her dog safe and sound and that it had endured the ordeal without significant harm.
