This problem will increasingly intensify in vocational training occupations in the future. Nevertheless, most students aim to pursue higher education.
The FDP Saar therefore calls for reverse internships: In addition to the existing internships students do in companies, companies should also regularly come to schools in the future to introduce themselves.
"Two models are conceivable for us: On the one hand, schools can offer a career orientation day, as some schools already do. On the other hand, a different company could come to the school during set lesson hours every week to introduce itself. This reduces the barriers to a later application on the one hand and, on the other hand, gives companies the opportunity to promote their job profiles and also their corporate culture," said Secretary General Marcel Mucker.
“It is important that the Ministry of Education includes appropriate time slots for this in the timetables. For the new G9 year groups, this should be easily possible due to the additional teaching hours. At community schools, class council hours could initially be used until a long-term solution is found. Either way, vocational training professions must gain a stronger presence in our schools,” Mucker continued.
