“I want to learn about the wide range of services our businesses offer and send a signal that I am a contact person for our entrepreneurs. Together with the owners, I would like to engage in conversation, present the broad range of services to the public, and assure all managing directors of the municipality’s support in case of problems,” explained the mayor. He was accompanied on his visits by the municipality’s two economic development officers, Natali Darlagianni and Pascal Rech. They are competent contacts for all matters related to business in Eppelborn. The team can be reached at: wirtschaftsfoerderung@eppelborn.de
Company Weber Automation GmbH and Co. KG
When managing director Volker Weber and operations manager Udo König talk about their latest projects, the fascination for what they do is clearly evident. Instead of many words, they let moving images speak repeatedly during the visit of Mayor Andreas Feld and the two economic developers Natali Darlagianni and Pascal Rech. Their company Weber Automation is active in the special machinery construction sector for individual solutions and brings automation especially to the food industry.
Since 2014, Managing Director Volker Weber says, the company has been located at the Eppelborn site and feels comfortable there. The company was founded back in 1990. The continuous growth of his company eventually prompted Volker Weber to break ground in 2013 at the substation for a new administrative building and an attached production hall. The company employs 22 staff members. Even during the Corona pandemic, there was no short-time work; instead, the time was used to build a new production line. Currently, Operations Manager König explains, delivery difficulties are causing the company some problems.
He explains that increasing the automation rate is a good way to maintain production locally instead of relocating it to low-wage countries. As a special machine manufacturer, the company is especially in demand among pizza manufacturers. Production manager Udo König also brings a lot of expertise to this area. The machines, Weber explains, are all custom-made according to the specific customer requirements. At the beginning, he states, there is the customer's request, and together they then look for solutions. From the initial idea in the kick-off meeting to delivery, assembly, and commissioning of the system, Weber Automation accompanies all processes. Mayor Andreas Feld thanked the two gentlemen for the very interesting insight into the company's processes and wished them continued success with the upcoming projects and challenges.

Company Erhard Koller, Precision Engineering
Erhard Koller has been self-employed for 25 years now. After his company was initially located in Fischbach and later in St. Ingbert, he finally moved to the A1 industrial area in Eppelborn in 2009. He emphasizes that he feels completely comfortable there. He started his self-employment on December 1, 1997 – a step he has never regretted. Before that, he worked for many years at the company Hydac, where he acquired a lot of knowledge. In self-employment, he stresses, both routine and know-how have enabled him to win numerous well-known customers. They come from the Saarland region, and he has long since made a name for himself beyond that. His work is never boring – this is ensured by the numerous orders, mostly producing individual parts that are always specially tailored to the customers’ wishes. Erhard Koller explains that he got through the pandemic well as his trade was not affected. During a tour of the hall, Mayor Feld got a small insight into the many challenges Erhard Koller happily takes on every day with great enthusiasm. As a balance, Koller is devoted to bees; as the district beekeeping warden, he looks after many bee colonies and passes on his knowledge to new beekeepers.
