In cooperation with BARIŞ – Leben und Lernen e. V., the multi-generational house of Diakonie Saar, the Völklingen City Library, and the Integration Officer of the city of Völklingen, the VHS Völklingen is offering a reading with Gudrun Nilius on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at 6 p.m. The author presents her book "In 100 Tagen eine Freundin," which is written in simple language. The event will take place as part of the city anniversary in the premises of BARIŞ (Saarstraße 25, Völklingen).

The Austrian author Gudrun Nilius, who now lives in Riegelsberg, writes in her novel about Irini. She comes from Greece and has been living in Germany for two years. She has not found a female friend here yet. This burdens her. She wants to change that. But how does one find a female friend in Germany? Can friendship even be planned? Or is friendship a gift? And how much shared language and culture do you need for a friendship?
Gudrun Nilius wrote her first novel “In 100 Days a Girlfriend” in Simple Language. Texts in Simple Language are aimed at people who find reading (still) difficult. People who have trouble concentrating, for example because they are ill or aging, also benefit from Simple Language. Many citizens are also learning German as a foreign or second language and appreciate clear texts. Simple Language can also make reading easier for people with visual or hearing impairments. Of course, texts in Simple Language can also be read by experienced readers.
