On Saturday, September 10th, the motto in the municipality of Wadgassen is "O’ Zapft is". This is when the "Werbeler Wiesn" takes place in the festival tent in Werbeln. In addition to an evening full of live music and Maßkrüge, there will also be a church service on Sunday morning (September 11th) as well as a hearty lunch. Also on Sunday, the "Sterne des Bisttals" will take place at the same location. It is a volunteer gala honoring achievements in sports, culture, or social engagement.
„O‘ Zapft is“
The "Werbelner Wiesn" was able to excite people around the municipality of Wadgassen as early as 2019 before the corona pandemic and whetted the appetite for more. Now the time has come and the festival tent in Werbeln has been set up again. "After the two-year corona-related break, it feels really good to finally be able to celebrate together again," says Mayor Sebastian Greiber. "Social life is slowly getting back into full swing through festivals like this one."
The "Werbelner Wiesen" begins at 5:50 PM with a hearty firing by the Schaffhausen marksmen’s club. Afterwards, a festive procession led by the local music association Germania Differten will enter the festival tent. The traditional keg tapping with Mayor Sebastian Greiber takes place immediately afterward. The popular cover band "Al Dente" will accompany the evening with their unique sound. Last tickets are also available at the box office or in advance via Ticket Regional.
Tent service, lunch, and coffee & cake
Those who want to enjoy the Oktoberfest atmosphere in a more relaxed setting can attend the church service in the festival tent on Sunday, September 11th. It starts at 10:30 a.m. Afterwards, visitors can look forward to a hearty lunch. Coffee and cake are also provided.
The Werbelner Wiesn is organized by the municipality of Wadgassen together with the local Werbelner carnival club "Die Grenobler".
"Stars of the Bisttal"
With the event "Stars of the Bisttal," the municipality of Wadgassen honors citizens who have achieved special successes in recent years. In their honor, the volunteer gala "Stars of the Bisttal" will take place on September 11th from 3 p.m. to approx. 6 p.m. in the festival tent at the Werbeln marketplace. The event will be hosted by SR presenter Michael Friemel.
“We were already able to celebrate the premiere of the 'Stars of the Bisttal' in 2019,” reports Mayor Greiber. “Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus, we had to suspend the event for two years. Therefore, this year all those who achieved successes in the past three seasons 19/20, 20/21, and 21/22 will be honored.” These include achievements in the areas of sports, culture, social engagement, or other voluntary activities. “But we do not only want to honor the frontmen and frontwomen at this event,” explains Greiber. “With the ‘Emilie Koch Medal,’ a ‘hidden champion,’ meaning a quiet helper working behind the scenes, is also honored each year.”
In the afternoon, Michael Friemel, known from Saarland Broadcasting as in 2019, will be the host. Alongside him, various clubs, such as the Differter Saitenspielkreis, the theater group "Laienspielschar Schaffhausen," and the youth guards of the carnival club "Die Peikler," will contribute to a colorful program. All citizens are warmly invited. Admission is free.
