“The energy surcharge decided under the Green Minister of Economic Affairs and Energy, Robert Habeck, leads to exorbitantly high financial burdens for gas customers who are already suffering from rapidly rising prices. Many are thus threatened with financial distress,” explains Andy Strassel, chairman of the CDA Neunkirchen, describing the dire situation for many people. “Furthermore, the energy surcharge is extremely unfair and antisocial, as the burdens are borne solely by gas customers, while, distributed according to a scattergun principle, it also benefits corporations that are making indecently high profits at this time. It should not go unmentioned on this occasion that these are precisely companies in the renewable energy sector, which also come from the immediate political environment of the Minister of Economic Affairs. This surcharge has only been implemented in Germany for good reason. It must be stopped as quickly as possible,” demands Strassel.
“The principle that work must pay off is endangered by the also high fuel prices. Commuters, craftsmen, and delivery services in particular suffer from the immense fuel prices,” explains Thomas W. Schmitt, deputy chairman of the CDA Neunkirchen, describing the current difficult situation for many employees. “Since the commuter allowance hardly keeps up with the increased fuel prices anymore, we at CDA Neunkirchen join the position of the CDU Saar and support the demand to raise the allowance to 0.38 euros from the first kilometer and to link it dynamically to fuel prices,” Schmitt emphasizes.
