The Saarland state government should make only very sparing use of the opportunities provided by the new Corona regulations decided by the federal cabinet.
This is demanded by the deputy FDP state chairman Helmut Isringhaus. Wearing masks in enclosed spaces should not be made a general obligation, but rather be the responsibility of the individual. The face covering primarily serves as self-protection. Since vaccinated and recovered individuals are to be exempted from the mask requirement, controls at indoor events are hardly feasible. This applies especially to bars or restaurants, "where wearing masks makes no sense at all."
Furthermore, testing should be free again. "The current regulation is far too complicated," says Isringhaus. The paid testing also insufficiently reflects the actual COVID-19 infection situation. On the other hand, billing fraud must be combated more efficiently. In addition, testing in schools should only take place if there is a concrete reason. It is important that all measures are understandable for the citizens, "Only then will they be followed." The FDP state vice-chair welcomes that the parliaments are once again involved in decisions regarding COVID-19 measures. All projects must now be discussed through parliamentary procedures. "The Saarland state parliament should make ample use of this," he emphasizes. However, the criteria for the measures to be decided by the state parliament must be precisely defined in advance. "Debates going off into the blue are pointless," says Isringhaus.
