At the festival of Franco-German friendship in Bouzonville, the municipality of Rehlingen-Siersburg did not compete against each other but participated together as a team with their partner city Bouzonville in various sports! "In different disciplines, we were able to further strengthen and expand friendships. These festivals are invaluable for the Franco-German relationship, and in the future, mutual opportunities for exchange and coming together will continuously be created in both municipalities. I am in constant contact with Armel Chabane, the mayor of our partner city Bouzonville. A friendship has developed between us, and we both want to pass on the chances to form new friendships through exchange to the citizens of both municipalities. Therefore, everyone interested, with or without knowledge of French, is warmly invited to all the festivals and events we still plan!" said Mayor Joshua Pawlak. Among other things, kindergartens will also be given the opportunity for cross-border exchange, as even children should be able to build friendships across the border. Armel Chabane at the festival of Franco-German friendship: "I am very pleased to welcome our friends from Rehlingen-Siersburg. Mayor Joshua Pawlak and I are the new generation in Europe, the new generation of mayors continuing the course set by our predecessors. The Franco-German friendship is essential for us and for our Europe. For us here in the border region, Europe is our daily business, our life. The cross-border exchange at meetings, shopping, visiting friends, or going for walks – these are relationships that can only take place without walls or borders." Both mayors competed in various disciplines and got to know new sports together at the festival of Franco-German friendship. From joint wrestling, shooting hoops in basketball, playing handball, football, to karate, team spirit was strengthened, which is so important in the relationship between the two mayors regarding the development of the partner municipalities.
