Dear citizens,
Every day, people in Ukraine risk their lives for the freedom of their country, and the civilian population also suffers greatly from this war. Millions of people have already fled abroad because of the war in Ukraine, but many are also displaced within Ukraine. The need is great, and the situation is extremely distressing for everyone.
Therefore, I would like to once again call for financial donations to help Ukraine.
For example, the "Alliance Development Helps" and "Action Germany Helps" jointly call for donations to the following account:
IBAN: DE53 200 400 600 200 400 600;
BIC: COBADEFFXXX; Commerzbank
Reference: ARD/ Emergency Aid Ukraine
Please help within your means to alleviate the suffering in Ukraine.
You can also provide direct assistance to the Ukrainians who are now seeking refuge in our community:
If you would like to donate non-perishable food and hygiene products, you are welcome to drop them off on Mondays from 3 to 5 pm at the collection point at Römerstraße 30 in Bliesransbach. You can also package your donated non-perishable food items (e.g., canned goods, pasta, rice, flour, sugar, salt) and hygiene products (e.g., shampoo, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, sanitary pads, detergent) in a bag or box and leave them at the reception of the town hall during our opening hours (Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 12:00 pm and 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm, Wednesdays until 5:30 pm; on May 27, 2022 the town hall is closed all day).
The war refugees then have the opportunity to provide for themselves according to their needs from the donations received.
However, it is also important that we build a network in our community to support those seeking protection and help them in their daily lives, for example with official matters, doctor visits, and everyday shopping. Most of them are proficient neither in the German language nor in the Latin script.
Therefore, we are still urgently looking for volunteer guides who take care of the refugees from Ukraine. For the refugees, Germany is a foreign country where they first have to learn how to find their way around.
If you are willing to invest time to care for the refugees, please contact Mr. Mrazzen from the refugee support service (Tel. 0 68 05 / 20 08 524, Email: ukraine@kleinblittersdorf.de). You can also register your willingness to help with Caritas, Ms. Annalisa Crisetti, (Tel. 06 81 / 30 906 14, Email: crisetti-a@caritas-saarbruecken.de).
Currently, we urgently need cooking pots, as well as well-preserved household electrical appliances (including washing machines, dryers, irons, electric stoves, refrigerators, freezers, coffee machines, toasters, kettles, vacuum cleaners, hair dryers). If you would like to donate something, please send us an email at ukraine@kleinblittersdorf.de.
As our clothing warehouses are currently still well stocked, we kindly ask you to refrain from donating clothes. We also no longer need furniture and kitchen utensils (except for cooking pots).
Many heartfelt thanks for your support and solidarity with the Ukrainian population.
Yours
Rainer Lang
