Safe Cycling in Völklingen – VHS and ADFC Offer Two-Part Event Series The Völklingen Adult Education Center (VHS) and the ADFC Saarland State Association, together with the cycling coordinators of the city of Völklingen, Anna Lena Altmeier and Silas Reimann, are offering an event series designed to provide citizens with greater safety and confidence in traffic while cycling. The series combines theoretical content with practical cycling exercises. The kickoff event is a lecture by Thomas Fläschner, Chairman of ADFC Saar, who will explain how cyclists can navigate traffic safely and confidently based on specific traffic situations in Völklingen. The event takes place on May 27 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Old Town Hall Völklingen (Course number: 803012). Participation is free, but registration is required. Following this, on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., the practical cycling safety training "With Fun, Confidence, and New Ease (Back) on the Pedelec!" will be held (Course number: 803013). Led by cycling safety trainers Ute Kirchhoff (ADFC Saar) and Bernd Lohrum (ADFC Rhineland-Palatinate), participants will train safe handling of pedelecs at the Völklingen Youth Traffic School, supplemented by basic riding techniques and practicing typical traffic situations. Participants must bring their own pedelec and wear a helmet. Participation is free, but registration is required. This offering thus creates a combination of lecture and practical training, providing a holistic concept to promote cycling safety in Völklingen. Registrations can be made online at vhs.voelklingen.de or by phone at 06898/13-2597 through the Völklingen Adult Education Center.
