The film complements, alienates, and ironically illuminates history through source-based "interviews" with the historical painter Anton von Werner, August Bebel, Wilhelm Liebknecht, and an elderly Saarland former Nazi, portrayed by young actresses. It addresses topics such as the honoring of colonial criminals through street names in Völklingen, the restoration and exhibition of anti-French paintings in Saarbrücken, the reconstruction of the City Palace in Berlin along with the presentation of colonial looted art, and questions like "Are nationalism, war, and racism back in fashion?" or "Do we want a new empire of iron and blood?"
Among the topics, speakers include former Federal Minister Peter Altmaier (Bismarck expert) and Erich Später from the Heinrich Böll Foundation Saar. Also featured are the former mayor of Völklingen Christiane Blatt (until October 2024) and mayor Stephan Tautz, who at the time of filming was the local head of the Völklingen district.
Tickets are available in advance for 6 euros at the office of the VHS Völklingen: VHS Völklingen, Bismarckstraße 1, 66333 Völklingen
