The shelter, estimated to be around 40 years old, located on the forest edge, was in a poor condition. The roof was leaking, the side walls were patchy, and a support pillar had rotted... Members of the Ensdorfer Building Committee prompted the municipal administration to find a solution to restore the shelter at a fair price.
Now, thanks to the tireless efforts of a local business, the condition of the hut is once again flawless. Two carpenters from Dachdeckerei Müller replaced the missing rafters, round timbers, and the large support pillar during their two-week school holidays and completely re-roofed the hut with bitumen shingles. Even during the repair work, there was much praise from forest visitors for the craftsmen.
Photos: Nadine Händle/Gemeinde Ensdorf A commendable action and a wonderful engagement by a business that charged the administration only a fraction of the actual costs for the extensive repair works! In the context of a small 'opening ceremony', firm CEO Patrick Müller, in the presence of Mayor Jörg Wilhelmy, Forest Ranger Martin Wollenweber, Environmental Officer Adrienne Blaes, and Municipal Council member Michael Zocchetti, gave the hut the following old carpenter's oath: Photos: Nadine Händle/Gemeinde Ensdorf 'May I, as well as I can, be as strong as a carpenter, with a proudly raised gaze, grant much luck to this new house. We ask God, who always faithfully protects us in danger, to preserve this building from all kinds of harm.' Once again, our thanks go out to Mr.
Müller for his charitable engagement.
