On Thursday (23.07.2026) around 04:40 a.m., the Federal Police checked a 34-year-old man at the Saarbrücken-Goldene Bremm border crossing as part of the temporarily introduced internal border controls.

During the check of the Algerian national, it turned out that there was an arrest warrant against the man. The warrant was based on theft and a fine of 1,800 euros. In case of non-payment, a substitute custodial sentence of 15 days had been ordered.

Since the 34-year-old was unable to pay the fine, the arrest warrant was executed. Subsequently, the Federal Police officers delivered the man to a correctional facility to serve the substitute custodial sentence.
