More space for families 
Psychological Counseling Center moves into larger and barrier-free premises at Homburg Central Station

The Psychological Counseling Center has recently moved into its new, significantly larger premises. The move became necessary to meet the increased demand from parents, children, and adolescents. At the new location, the facility benefits from expanded space, allowing for an extension of counseling services and more flexible appointment scheduling.

A major advantage of the new location is its very good accessibility: The new rooms are centrally located directly at Homburg Central Station and are thus perfectly connected to public transport. Families from the entire region can therefore reach the counseling center quickly and easily. Once on site, the new infrastructure ensures barrier-free access: Whereas the facility was previously difficult to access for people with mobility impairments, it is now conveniently reachable via an elevator. In addition, the new floor has a modern disabled toilet. In addition to people with physical disabilities, parents with strollers or very young children also benefit from these improvements. With this structural modernization, the family counseling center now fully meets the legal requirements for inclusive youth welfare.

The new rooms also enable the team to further expand their professional focus. In addition to classical parenting counseling, separation and divorce counseling as well as qualified mediation form key pillars of the service. Thanks to the larger space, important group offerings can now also take place on site again. These include the certified parent course “Strong Parents – Strong Children” as well as a specialized group for children of separated parents, providing those affected an opportunity for mutual exchange.

“The mental health of children and parents needs not only time and attention but also the appropriate protected space,” emphasizes District Administrator Frank John. “In our new rooms, our counseling professionals can respond more flexibly to the individual needs of families, whether through conversations with parents, children, and adolescents or through preventive group offerings. We are especially proud that we are now truly a barrier-free and easily accessible contact point for all families.”
