Charity bike tour of the Air Force made a stop in Saarlouis

Grand reception for a good cause at Saarlouis Town Hall

The European City of Saarlouis welcomed the participants of the charity bike tour of the Air Force of the Federal Ministry of Defence in the reception hall of the Town Hall. As part of their nationwide tour, with which they collect donations for the Bundeswehr Social Welfare Organization and especially the "Aktion Sorgenkinder" (Action Worried Children), the cyclists made a stopover in Saarlouis.

Mayor Marc Speicher, Mayor Carsten Quirin, Alder Gerald Purucker as well as City Manager Kirsten Cortez, who organized the reception and the visit, personally welcomed the group and used the reception to discuss the goals of the tour and the associated social commitment with the participants. The campaign combines sporting effort with social responsibility and stands for solidarity with children with disabilities. The collected donations benefit the "Aktion Sorgenkinder" of the Bundeswehr Social Welfare Organization and enable quick, unbureaucratic help for affected families.

“The charity bike tour impressively shows how sport connects people and at the same time can provide concrete help. We are pleased to welcome the participants in Saarlouis. Their commitment to children and families in need of support deserves the utmost respect and recognition. I wish the entire group continued success and an accident-free tour as well as many supporters along the way,” emphasized Mayor Marc Speicher.

After the reception at the Town Hall, the tour continued with the participants to Dillingen before returning to Saarlouis in the afternoon. There, the association KommKultur e.V., together with the City Management of the European City of Saarlouis, invited to a public charity café at Café Bicyclette. Citizens had the opportunity to talk with the cyclists, learn more about the background of the campaign and support it with a donation.

With the reception at the Town Hall, the European City of Saarlouis showed its appreciation for the voluntary commitment of the participants and its support for initiatives that promote social cohesion and assistance for disadvantaged children.
