On Wednesday (22.07.2026) around 5:30 p.m., the Federal Police conducted a check on a 41-year-old man at the Saarbrücken-Goldene Bremm border crossing as part of the temporarily introduced internal border controls.
During the verification of the Syrian national, it was found that there was an arrest warrant against the man. The penalty order for driving without a license was based on a fine of 3,200 euros. In case of non-payment, a substitute prison sentence of 40 days had been ordered.
As the 41-year-old was unable to pay the fine, the arrest warrant was executed. Subsequently, the Federal Police officers took the man to a correctional facility to serve the substitute prison sentence.
