Information event on municipal heat planning of the district town of St. Wendel
[advertisement placement="medium_rectangle" align="left"]The district town of St. Wendel recently invited interested citizens to the Alsfassen Cultural Center for an information event about its municipal heat planning. There, the working group commissioned by the city, consisting of Hansa Luftbild Mobile Mapping GmbH and the K212 Competence Center for Climate Change and Infrastructure Management, presented the main results of the heat planning for St. Wendel. After the technical lecture, visitors had the opportunity for direct exchange with the experts. Additionally, Matthias Lutter, energy consultant of the Saarland Consumer Advice Center, provided information on suitable heating systems for residential buildings as well as on current government subsidy programs.

Municipal heat planning is an important component on the way to climate-neutral heat supply. The basis for this is the Heat Planning Act, which came into effect on January 1, 2024. It obliges all municipalities with up to 100,000 inhabitants to create a municipal heat plan by no later than June 30, 2028.
This obligation has already been fulfilled by the district town of St. Wendel. The goal of municipal heat planning is to develop a long-term concept for a climate-friendly, economical, and future-proof heat supply in St. Wendel. The municipal heat plan serves as a strategic guide for politics, administration, and residents of the district town. It shows which forms of heat supply can be sensible and economical in the individual urban areas in the future and thus provides important orientation for further city and energy planning.
