The previous offerings as part of the summer holiday program were very well received by the children and adolescents, and there are already a pleasing number of registrations for the upcoming activities.
[advertisement placement="medium_rectangle" align="left"]As in previous years, the bat walk with Stefan Kees, the nature conservation officer in the Quierschied municipal district, was once again one of the highlights so far. On 11.07., over 20 participants, accompanied by Stefan Kees, went on a bat hunt at dusk with an ultrasound detector and listened to the hunters of the night. Ultrasound detectors are devices that can make the high calls of bats audible to us humans.
During the tour around Kohlbachweiher, the participants learned interesting facts about the role of bats in our ecosystem, their social behavior, their annual cycle, and what we can all do to protect them.
There are still a few spots available for the activities in the last weeks of the holidays. Among others, the youth center team in Quierschied would welcome further registrations for the canoe trip on July 28. Registrations and/or questions can be sent by e-mail to juz.quierschied@rvsbr.de or by phone at 06897 66310.
