Strong together in Saarlouis against knockout drops
The city of Saarlouis is participating in the campaign "You won’t knock me out! – Strong together against knockout drops!" with a summer campaign. In the old town of Saarlouis as well as in local beer gardens, free beer mats, posters, and flyers are being distributed that inform about the dangers of knockout drops and draw attention to available support services.
To kick off the campaign, Mayor Carsten Quirin, the Women's Representative of the Saarlouis district Astrid Brettnacher, and the Women's Representative of the city of Saarlouis Sigrid Gehl visited Vauban Island. Operator Maik Ferber supports the campaign by providing informational material and handing out the campaign beer mats to his guests.
The campaign was designed by the State Working Group of Municipal Women’s Representatives in collaboration with specialized counseling centers Nele (Association against sexual exploitation of girls e.V.), Phönix (Counseling center against sexual exploitation of boys), Frauennotruf Saarland (Counseling for raped or abused women), as well as the White Ring (Counseling center for crime victims). Since 2022, the campaign has been informing about the dangers of knockout drops across Saarland with various projects and raising awareness for prevention measures and support services. It is supported by the Saarland Ministry.
Mayor Carsten Quirin expressed his pleasure about the participation of Saarlouis’ gastronomy businesses. Especially in places where many people spend their leisure time, it is important to educate about the dangers of knockout drops and sensitize people to this issue.
