City and parish want to strengthen early childhood education and care provision in Saarlouis
The European city of Saarlouis and the Saarlouis St. Ludwig parish have signed a Letter of Intent in the Gobelinsaal of the town hall. Both contracting parties agree on two specific projects: on the one hand, the city will in future take over the building sponsorship for the St. Ludwig daycare center in the city center. On the other hand, the parish grants the city a plot of land next to the municipal daycare center Metzer Wiesen through a heritable building right contract for the purpose of further developing the early childhood education facility in Vogelsang. This way, both sides not only commit to maintaining daycare places but also to a possible spatial expansion and the creation of new places.
Mayor Carsten Quirin spoke of a very significant step for the city: “With this agreement, we are setting a sign of cooperation between the city and the parish that we want to jointly secure daycare places and at the same time create perspectives for the further development of our early childhood education offerings in Saarlouis. At the same time, it is our aspiration as a family-friendly municipality to ensure a future-proof and diverse childcare in Saarlouis.”
Lord Mayor Marc Speicher thanked all involved for their support: “My sincere thanks go to the St. Ludwig parish for the trusting cooperation as well as to the city council, which has approved this important project. Together we create good conditions for families and invest in the future of our city.”
The contract was signed by Prof. Dr. Dieter Bohr, chairman of the parish council of St. Ludwig parish, and Mayor Carsten Quirin as the responsible officer for finance, families, social affairs, schools, and sports of the city of Saarlouis.
By signing the Letter of Intent, the city and parish reaffirm their close cooperation and lay the foundation for the further implementation of the joint project.
