Late on the morning of 18.07.2026 (Saturday), officers from the Nordsaarland Police Department were able to detain two fraudsters in the parking lot of a discount store in Wadern, who were deceiving passersby out of their cash under false pretenses.

The two male perpetrators approached people in the parking lot, presenting a false donation appeal and making people believe that they were collecting donations for a children's aid organization.

According to initial police findings, the fraudsters were able to obtain cash in the low three-digit range from a number of donors.

The Nordsaarland Police Department is now appealing to the public to report if anyone has handed money over to the fraudulent collectors.
