While simultaneously backing out of a parking space, a collision occurred on Thursday, July 16, 2026, around 11:00 a.m. in the parking lot of the EDEKA market in Oberthal between two cars. After the collision with a Mini Cooper, the other car left the scene without authorization. The fleeing vehicle is said to have been a dark BMW with the WND district code. The driver of the BMW is described as a slim man with gray hair, estimated to be between 55 and 65 years old. He was also reportedly wearing a turquoise or green T-shirt. The accident caused property damage only. An investigation has been initiated.
