Saarlouis city leaders visit Federal Police in Saarbrücken
Last week, Mayor Marc Speicher, Deputy Mayor Carsten Quirin, and the Head of the Office for Citizen Services, Security, and Order, Christian Bost, paid an introductory visit to the Federal Police Inspection in Saarbrücken. They were welcomed by Police Director Robert Tachtler.
The focus of the visit was personal exchange on current security-related topics as well as cooperation between municipalities and security authorities. In a joint working meeting, the Mayor and Deputy Mayor were informed about the diverse tasks and responsibilities of the Federal Police in Saarland.
Subsequently, the guests received a comprehensive insight into the daily work of the Federal Police during a tour of the station's premises. The city leaders were particularly impressed by a demonstration of the service dog unit, during which the capability and wide range of deployment of the specially trained dogs were impressively shown.
Another program item took the group to the Federal Police station at Saarbrücken Central Station. There, the attendees learned about the work of the officers at one of Saarland’s most important transport hubs. The officers provided insights into their daily work routine and described the special challenges that deployment duties at the station area entail.
“The safety of citizens is a joint responsibility. That is why regular exchange with our security authorities is of great importance. The Federal Police make an indispensable contribution to public security every day. The visit once again showed us with what high professionalism and great commitment the staff perform their service,” emphasized Mayor Marc Speicher.
In conclusion, the Mayor and Deputy Mayor thanked Police Director Tachtler and his team for the open exchange, the interesting insights, and the warm welcome.
