Saarbrücken / Malstatt (ots)
On yesterday evening (07/18/2026), a serious violent crime occurred in the Saarbrücken district of Malstatt to the detriment of a 30-year-old woman. Her 31-year-old husband is urgently suspected of having attacked the woman in their shared apartment. Officers detained the man on the scene.
At around 9:00 p.m., a patrol unit from the Saarbrücken-Burbach police station observed a person on a roof ledge of a multi-story multi-family building in 66113 Saarbrücken during their patrol. While a policewoman was monitoring the situation, two other officers immediately went to the suspected apartment. Before entering the premises, the woman fell from several meters height onto the sidewalk.
According to the current state of the investigation, there had been an argument between the married couple living in the building beforehand. During this dispute, the 30-year-old fled onto the front roof. There, the man attacked his wife with a stabbing weapon. Subsequently, the wife fell several meters down onto the sidewalk. She was transported by emergency services to a nearby hospital. A child they had together was taken into the care of the youth welfare office.
The 31-year-old husband shortly afterward opened the apartment door and was taken into custody by the officers without resistance. The alleged weapon was secured at the scene. The detainee is currently in police custody.
A presentation to the investigating judge at the Saarbrücken District Court to obtain a detention order is planned for later today.
In addition to several officers from the Saarbrücken-Burbach police station and the Operational Unit (OpE), the criminal investigation duty service (LPD 211), the crime scene unit (LPD 215), and the specialist department for crimes against life (LPD 213) were involved in the operation.
The investigation is ongoing.
