Storm operations of the Saarbrücken Fire Department on 16.07.2026
In the early evening of 16.07.2026, a thunderstorm cell passed over the city area of Saarbrücken. As a result, there was an accumulation of operations for the Saarbrücken Fire Department.
In total, over 50 deployment sites had to be handled. The eastern part of Saarbrücken was the most affected, with a focus on the district of Güdingen.
These were mostly minor incidents caused by locally heavy rainfall and gusts of wind.
In the aftermath of a smaller thunderstorm cell, there was also an operation following a lightning strike in the Rodenhof area. A chimney was damaged there, with parts falling off.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported at the numerous deployment sites.
The fire districts Bischmisheim, Brebach, Bübingen, Dudweiler, Ensheim, Eschringen, Fechingen, Güdingen, Scheidt, and St. Arnual were on duty, as well as units from fire stations 1 and 2 of the Saarbrücken professional fire brigade.
In addition, the main control center of the professional fire brigade was reinforced with personnel.
