Mayor Dr. Ulli Meyer exchanged views with Martin Roth, Chairman of the Works Council of Festo SE Rohrbach, about the announced changes at the Festo location in Rohrbach. The focus of the discussion was on the impact of the planned job reductions at Festo SE Rohrbach, the planned modernization and expansion of logistics, and the further development of linear axes into a competence center with highly qualified activities and sophisticated production technologies for Festo SE Rohrbach.
Nationwide, the company plans to cut around 1,300 jobs. According to the company, this is to be done through voluntary programs and socially responsible measures. Jobs are also to be cut in Rohrbach.
The Mayor of St. Ingbert is in close exchange with the site management on this matter.
“Festo is one of the most important employers in our city. Almost everyone in St. Ingbert knows someone who works or has worked at Festo. That is why this news affects many people. All the more important is that the announced job cuts are implemented in a socially responsible way and that the Rohrbach site continues to have a strong future,” emphasizes Mayor Dr. Ulli Meyer.
The Mayor made it clear that the city is monitoring the developments closely and will continue the dialogue with employee representatives and site management. The aim is to find solutions together that provide security to employees while simultaneously strengthening the future of the traditional company location.
