Yesterday evening around 7:40 PM, a 65-year-old man became the victim of a robbery. The injured party, who relied on a walker, was sitting in the Saarbrücken pedestrian zone (intersection of Dudweiler Straße/Bahnhofstraße/Betzenstraße) when an as yet unknown perpetrator attempted to snatch his black shoulder bag. The victim physically defended himself against the attacker and drew attention to the act with calls for help. The accused ultimately succeeded in taking the bag and fled on foot towards Betzenstraße. Several passersby who were alerted by the calls for help chased the fleeing perpetrator along Betzenstraße, Am Stadtgraben street, and up to Schillerplatz. There, they managed to stop the perpetrator. After he handed over the shoulder bag, he continued to flee towards Bismarckbrücke.
The 65-year-old victim, to whom the previously stolen bag was fully returned, remained unharmed as a result of the incident. The unknown perpetrator is described as follows:
