Picnic of Nations once again attracted numerous guests to Mechern
In the best summer weather, this year's "Picnic of Nations" took place on Sunday, July 12th, on the village square in Mechern. The IG Integration Mechern was formed nine years ago and has since organized the meeting festival as part of the church fair of the Catholic Church St. Quiriakus Mechern. Thus, the day began again this year with a festive church service. Numerous visitors then took the opportunity to experience a day full of encounters, cultural exchange, and culinary diversity together.
The focus was on numerous international and regional specialties, lovingly prepared by dedicated citizens and offered for a voluntary donation. In total, 14 food stalls presented a diverse selection of culinary delights.

Local head Hedi Groß traditionally opened the event at noon at 12 o'clock. Upon her arrival, Anke Rehlinger praised the great voluntary commitment of the IG Integration and the significance of the picnic as a symbol for respectful and peaceful coexistence.
As every year, the KiTa Mechern participated together with its parent committee in the event and ensured that families with children also had their share. As an outstanding "Fair Kita," it offered the traditional cake buffet as well as coffee and sugar from fair trade. The coffee was provided by the Fairtrade city of Merzig.
The musical accompaniment was initially provided by "Jo Life" from the Euterpe Hilbringen music club, followed later by "Reinhold and his Jazz Friends," who entertained the visitors. Both groups insisted on performing voluntarily and without a fee. For the many children present, the "Cloef playmobile" offered activities on site.

People of all ages, especially families, took the opportunity to spend a carefree summer day together. The event once again showed that cohesion, openness, and mutual respect are actively lived in Mechern and the local community clubs work closely together.
The IG Integration Mechern thanked all helpers, sponsors, the many supporters, and visitors for their contribution to the success of the event.
The "Picnic of Nations" has once again proven to be an integral part of village life in Mechern and set a strong sign for community and lived integration.
Next year will already celebrate the 10th Picnic of Nations.
