A special symbol of Franco-German friendship awaits the citizens on Tuesday, July 14, over Saarlouis: On the occasion of the French National Day, there will be a flyover for the first time in the history of Saarland. Two Tornados of the German Armed Forces will fly over the garrison and European city.

"The 14th of July, as the National Day of France, also stands for the close friendship between Germany and France here in Saarlouis. With the flyover of the German Air Force, we emphasize our close partnership and our shared European spirit. Just as it is tradition in Paris on the 14th of July, we are doing something similar this year in Saarlouis. We are a European city, and we sincerely thank the French Consul General Jérôme Spinoza as well as the Bundeswehr Regional Command with Colonel Kopp and his predecessor Colonel Staab for making this historic event possible," Speicher continues.
The flyover is scheduled for 3:30 PM. The Tornados will pass Saarlouis at an altitude that allows a good view of the aircraft.
The flyover takes place as part of the German-French Friendship Festival, with which the garrison and European city of Saarlouis is celebrating the French National Day for the first time. Visitors can watch the flyover from Ravelin V, where a varied program around German-French friendship is offered throughout the day.
