On the temporary halt of the plans for a North Saarland Clinic, the FDP Saar states:
“The people in Hochwald have a right to reliable, local medical care – today and also in ten or twenty years. This exact goal must not be lost sight of now,” explains Dr. Helmut Isringhaus, health policy spokesman of the FDP Saar.
The FDP Saar fundamentally considers new outpatient-inpatient care models to be the right approach. Especially in rural areas, they can help to permanently secure medical services locally and effectively address the consequences of the shortage of doctors.
[advertisement placement="medium_rectangle" align="left"]"If the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians, after thorough examination, concludes that the submitted model is not viable in this form, the state government must take this assessment seriously. This should not be seen as a blockade but as an opportunity to jointly develop a better and permanently viable concept."
For the FDP, the question is not which sign is on a building, but what services people actually receive. Diagnostics, outpatient treatment, planned procedures, and good emergency care must be accessible as close to home as possible. Highly complex operations, on the other hand, belong in efficient specialized centers for reasons of patient safety and quality.
“People rightly expect good medical care – not necessarily a hospital based on yesterday’s structures. Our goal must be that citizens in the Hochwald get the right treatment at the right place quickly. That is modern health policy.”
The FDP Saar calls on the state government to transparently explain the reasons for the withdrawal of the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians and to quickly develop a viable care concept for the Hochwald together with all parties involved.
“The region must not become the loser in this discussion now. On the contrary: Hochwald can become a pioneer of modern healthcare – if medical quality, common sense, and the interests of patients are the focus, and not political symbolic politics,” said Isringhaus.
