St. Ingbert - Rohrbach (ots)
On the night of 09.07.2026 around 3:20 a.m., a car caught fire on the L119 between Rohrbach and Kirkel.
About 200 meters behind the Rohrbach town exit in the direction of Kirkel, a car was found fully engulfed in flames under a highway bridge. The vehicle is a BMW X5. No persons were inside the vehicle or in the immediate vicinity.
The L119 had to be fully closed in both directions during the emergency response. Due to the heavy smoke development, the federal highway A6 in the area of the bridge was checked. Traffic on the highway was not affected at any time.
The fire caused significant property damage to the vehicle as well as damage to the road surface and the underside of the highway bridge.
The cause of the fire is currently the subject of police investigations. There were initially no indications of a technical defect or arson at the scene.
