Summer tour takes Mayor Dr. Ulli Meyer to the city center
The summer tour by Mayor Dr. Ulli Meyer can almost be called a tradition. For many years, the city’s chief executive has visited local businesses in St. Ingbert during the summer months and seeks face-to-face conversations with the owners on site. This year, at the beginning of July, Mayor Dr. Ulli Meyer, together with economic development officer Martina Quirin and Nico Ganster, chairman of HGSI, visited the Stambene shoe and key service, the Tape-o-Mania video store, the Rafi tailor’s shop at Wendlings-Eck, and finally the Regina cinema.

In the large, light-filled tailor shop, there are several different sewing machines used to work with fine fabrics, jeans, leather, and even elastic materials. A special hemming machine is also part of the tailor master’s perfect equipment. The mayor was interested in having the functions of the various sewing machines explained to him. "I am impressed by the complexity of the tailoring, which I was not aware of before. I am very pleased that you have established yourself as a master tailor in St. Ingbert, as you are a great asset to our city," praised Dr. Meyer the work of Imad Hanan. In fact, he shared that he had visited various cities in Saarland and consciously looked at the clothing of the people. The final decision on the location of his own tailor shop was made early in 2024 in St. Ingbert, and he has not regretted it to this day. The native Syrian began sewing at the age of ten in his home country. With his many years of experience in the tailoring trade, he offers a wide range of alteration services as well as custom tailoring.
At the conclusion of his summer tour this year, Mayor Dr. Ulli Meyer visited the Regina Cinema on July 7th and watched the Bond film "Moonraker – Secret Mission." Beforehand, he spoke with Steffen Becker, who has been running the cinema for several years and thereby fulfilled his childhood dream. "I am glad that you had the courage to take over the cinema and thus save it from permanent closure. For me personally, Bond films hold a very special significance, as I met my wife Claudia during a cinema visit to a Bond film. When time permits, we very much enjoy attending the Bond screenings on the 7th of every month," the mayor said during the conversation with the 36-year-old cinema owner. Becker replied that there are a total of 26 Bond films, and the film in July is the eleventh. Until autumn 2027, a James Bond film will be shown every month on the 7th exactly in the order they were released.
And another tip: On the last Wednesday of every month, the "Senior Cinema" takes place, where selected movies are shown specifically for senior citizens.
Maybe it's time for a trip to the cinema again?!
