Good day,
Attached is a press release from the city of St. Ingbert with a request for publication. The second part of the summer tour will follow tomorrow.
Summer tour took Mayor Dr. Ulli Meyer to the city center
During the summer tour of Mayor Dr. Ulli Meyer, one can almost speak of a tradition. For many years, the head of the town hall has been visiting local business owners in the city of St. Ingbert during the summer months and seeks direct dialogue with the owners on site. This year, Mayor Dr. Ulli Meyer, together with economic promoter Martina Quirin and Nico Ganster, chairman of HGSI, visited the Stambene shoe and key service, the video store Tape-o-Mania, the tailoring shop Rafi at Wendling's Corner, and finally the Regina Cinema at the beginning of July.
Luigi Stambene, who has been working as a master shoemaker in St. Ingbert for 25 years now, warmly welcomed the representatives of the city and HGSI. In his workshop, he explained in detail the various machines and the numerous materials he uses daily for his craft. “My father was also a shoemaker, so I was exposed to this profession early on. As a master shoemaker, I learned the craft from the ground up, and I still enjoy it very much to this day,” says Luigi Stambene. What few people know: On request, he even makes custom-made shoes and is also the right contact for orthopedic insoles. In addition to shoe repairs, he also offers a key service and carries socks, fine tights, as well as bags and belts in his peripheral range. “I am very surprised at how versatile your craft is and that skillfulness is also required. In fact, I learned quite a bit about the making of shoes today. I am especially pleased that you practice your profession with passion; you can really tell,” summarized Mayor Dr. Ulli Meyer upon saying goodbye.
The second stop was at the video store Tape-o-Mania, run by Ricky Goldberg since 2010 in St. Ingbert, led by Dr. Meyer, Martina Quirin, and Nico Ganster. In the approximately 400 sqm retail space, the owner offers more than 20,000 DVDs and Blu-rays from a wide variety of topics and genres: "Of course, I have many regular customers – not only from St. Ingbert but also from the surrounding area. One customer, for example, regularly comes from Kaiserslautern to shop here in peace. Despite streaming services, there is still great interest in DVDs and Blu-rays." Since last year, he has also offered all DHL services as a postal branch. He had one request for the city representatives: His postal address is Rickertstr. 10A, since at the previous store the entrance was there. However, his business entrance is located at the parking lot on Poststraße, which leads to confusion for many customers. Especially external parcel services often have trouble finding his business premises. Economic promoter Martina Quirin promised assistance here: "If DHL does not provide appropriate signs, we will gladly take care of it. Of course, it is also in our interest that businesses in the city center can be found without problems." This was confirmed by Mayor Dr. Meyer, who wished continued success and good business upon departure.
