For some time now, it has occasionally appeared in the context of municipal marketing – from now on, the new logo of the municipality of Quierschied will also be used on official letters and documents of the municipal administration. On this occasion, on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, the layouts of the Quierschied Gazette and the municipality’s website, www.quierschied.de, were also switched to the new color scheme of the logo.
The "Q" in the center
The logo of the municipality was designed according to the specifications of the municipal administration by the advertising agency Jungen&Thönes from Saarbrücken. The goal was to highlight the unique characteristics of the municipality of Quierschied. Starting with the stylized Q, which as a very rare initial letter of a place name is a special feature in itself. The division of the Q into four elements stands for the three municipal districts Quierschied, Fischbach-Camphausen, and Göttelborn, as well as the Fischbach that flows through the entire municipality. The calm, natural colors represent the most distinctive feature of the municipality of Quierschied as the only municipality in Saarland completely surrounded by the Saar Coal Forest: the location between numerous local recreation areas, hiking and cycling paths. The color “Sun Yellow” represents the municipal district of Quierschied and also symbolizes innovation and the future. “Fern” represents Göttelborn and furthermore the natural location and ecological orientation of the municipality. “Forest Green” stands for Fischbach-Camphausen, tourism, and recreation, and “Spring Blue” for the Fischbach valley as a whole, economy, and dynamism. The accent color “Sand” is added – a reference to the spoil heaps as heirs of coal mining. Thus, the logo unites the past, present, and future of the municipality in one image. The image is completed with the clearly readable, harmonious wordmark “Municipality of Quierschied,” optimized for both screen use and printing.
Identification and recognition effect
“Personally, I really like the logo. It is modern, represents our community as a whole, and professionalizes the public appearance of the municipality, creating an identification and recognition effect that extends beyond its borders. So far, I have only received positive feedback from the public,” says Mayor Lutz Maurer, adding: “I want to emphasize that the logo does not replace the time-honored coat of arms of the municipality, but complements it. The coat of arms is even enhanced as it explicitly represents sovereign duties.” Mayor Maurer thanks municipal employee Sebastian Zenner (Office of Marketing, Press, and Public Relations), who took the lead on the project, as well as the members of the Committee for Education, Culture, Youth, Social Affairs, Sports, and Tourism for their constructive cooperation.
