On Saturday, July 4, 2026, Mayor Prof. Dr. Ulli Meyer welcomed the Bergkapelle Esch/Alzette in the dome hall of the St. Ingbert Town Hall. The Luxembourg band was visiting the Bergkapelle St. Ingbert and was warmly received in a ceremonial setting.
Lord Mayor Dr. Ulli Meyer recalled in his welcome address the shared tradition and industrial past that connect St. Ingbert and Esch/Alzette. Both cities are shaped by their mining and industrial history and still maintain a special awareness of this cultural heritage. The miners' chapels make an important contribution to this by musically preserving the mining tradition and passing it on to future generations.

In her speech, the 1st Chairwoman of the Bergkapelle Esch/Alzette reflected on the historical contacts between the bands, which date back to the 1960s. After many years, this connection was revived in recent years: In 2024, the Bergkapelle St. Ingbert had already been a guest in Esch/Alzette, and now the return visit took place in St. Ingbert.
The speeches highlighted how many commonalities connect both chapels and cities: the industrial history, the love of music and culture, as well as the commitment to preserving the mining tradition. The visit was therefore not only a musical gathering but also a symbol of lived cross-border friendship.
Following the reception at the town hall, the Bergkapelle Esch/Alzette performed on the stage "Im Sumpe" at the St. Ingbert city festival, enriching the musical program. Tradition, music, and personal encounters connect people across national borders.
