Immediate measures for heat protection

Wadgassen. Due to the experiences of the heatwave in

that church services can be responsibly held even during renewed extreme heat this summer.

All church services of the congregation in July and August saarland.de
will take place exclusively in the Evangelical Church Schaffhausen 7 July 2026
(Schulstraße). This also includes all planned baptisms.
The start of the Sunday services in Schaffhausen will be
uniformly moved forward to 9 a.m. in order to spare all visitors
the midday heat during arrival and departure. The service on July 19
will be moved to the evening before, July 18, at 6 p.m.
The Evangelical Community Center Überherrn is not available for
events for the time being during the summer. Therefore,
all announced church coffees and “meal services” – services with
a shared lunch afterwards – will be cancelled during this period.
The “Café Vielfalt” will take a summer break in July. A decision
about a possible reopening in August will be made at the end of the
month based on the situation.
The decisions and the associated restrictions
on community life are drastic but, with regard to “our
responsibility for the health and well-being of the
congregation members,” unavoidable, according to the church community.
The Evangelical Community Center Überherrn is not designed for extreme heat.
In the medium term, the board plans a comprehensive heat protection concept.
The Evangelical Church Congregation Schaffhausen includes the
municipal community of Wadgassen with all districts as well as
Überherrn.
