Public tours in the Tholey Abbey Church
Tholey. The municipality of Tholey, in cooperation with the Benedictine Abbey of Tholey, continues to offer regular guided tours of the historic abbey church, which start at 2:30 p.m. on selected weekends. Visitors have the opportunity to choose between special art tours and general historical tours to learn more about Germany's oldest monastic complex and its famous windows.
The art tours focus on the windows of the abbey church and include a visit to the altar area. They take place on several Sundays.
The participation fee is 15 euros per person.
Those who are more interested in the history of the monastery can participate in the general tours. The focus here is on the history, with the windows also being explained, but a visit to the altar area is not planned. These tours start on selected Saturdays at 2:30 pm. The dates are July 18th, as well as September 5th, September 12th, and September 26th.
The participation in the general guided tours costs 10 euros per person.
All tours last approximately 90 minutes. Due to the limited number of participants, prior registration via the website www.tholey.de/abteifuehrungen is required.
In addition, groups of up to 25 people have the option to book private tours.
