Last weekend, from July 3rd to July 5th, 2026, the traditional Saarbrücken Old Town Festival took place. Police forces were present on-site throughout all three days as part of a special operation. From a police perspective, the event, attended by approximately 180,000 people, proceeded largely peacefully and without major incidents. In connection with the festival, isolated cases of bodily injury were reported. Additionally, legal proceedings were initiated against a festival visitor who physically attacked police officers, including on suspicion of assaulting law enforcement officers.
