A sporty and varied school day awaited the students of the St. Ingbert-Rohrbach community school on this year's Day of Clubs. As early as 8 a.m., numerous interactive activities for all grade levels began, turning the school grounds into a place for trying out, moving, and meeting.
In total, 13 clubs and institutions from the region presented their offerings at 15 stations and invited the children to get to know various sports and leisure activities and to get active themselves. Represented were the St. Ingbert Music School, Special Olympics Saarland, TTC Lautzkirchen, the basketball department of TV St. Ingbert 1881 with the Saints St. Ingbert, the NABU group St. Ingbert, the Rohrbach Fruit and Horticulture Association, the DLRG Neunkirchen, the 1st Juggersportclub Saar-Pfalz, the Judo and Ju-Jutsu Club St. Ingbert, the St. Ingbert Cycling Club, the KSV 68 St. Ingbert Wrestling Club, the German Red Cross (local chapter Rohrbach) as well as DJK SG St. Ingbert – many of whom have been guests at GemS Rohrbach for several years. Additional support for the school came from the Saarland State Sports Association, which provided two trained coaches for the school's own calisthenics park.
Not only well-known sports were on the program – many students also had the opportunity to try out completely new activities and discover new talents and interests. Whether it was Jugger, wrestling, the new violence prevention concept of the Judo and Ju-Jutsu Club, apple fishing, or learning about the work of nature conservation and aid organizations – there was something for everyone.
Due to the high summer temperatures, the program was adjusted to the weather conditions. To protect all participants, the school, together with the clubs, decided on a time-reduced offer. At the same time, a comprehensive concept for cooling and catering was implemented: A refreshment station with water misting provided pleasant cooling between the individual interactive activities. In addition, students were offered free chilled watermelons and mineral water. Additionally, isotonic drinks, apple spritzers, and freshly grilled sausages could be purchased at cost price. This allowed the day to be carried out safely, comfortably, and with great enjoyment despite the intense heat.
With the Day of Clubs, the school pursues a clear goal, explains the organizer of this event day, Christoph Groß, who, as a specialist coordinator, is responsible, among other things, for the sports sector of the school: children and young people are to be inspired by sports, movement, culture, and club life. At the same time, the event offers local clubs the opportunity to present themselves to a young audience and recruit new members for their offerings. The communal experience, team spirit, and joy of movement were at the center of it all.
Principal Susanne Fritz finds the development particularly pleasing compared to the previous year: "The number of participating clubs has tripled. This positive response demonstrates the great commitment of the individual institutions and the successful collaboration between the school and external partners."
The school community therefore looks optimistically to the future. In addition to promoting club sports, the cooperation also opens up new perspectives for the school's all-day program. The goal is to attract further external partners who will engage both during lunch breaks and project times, sustainably enriching the school's offerings.
The St. Ingbert-Rohrbach community school warmly thanks all involved clubs, institutions, as well as the numerous voluntary helpers who contributed with their efforts to the success of this special day. A special thanks also goes to the supporting parents who helped with refreshments and catering, ensuring that despite the extreme temperatures, the day became a successful experience for everyone involved.
The Day of Clubs impressively demonstrated how valuable the cooperation between schools and clubs is. It not only provided the students with an eventful school day but also made an important contribution to promoting physical activity, community, and social engagement.
