“Clean is more beautiful”: ZKE intensive cleaning of the city center for the Old Town Festival

As part of the cleanliness campaign "Clean is More Beautiful," the municipal Central Municipal Waste Disposal Service (ZKE) will carry out cleaning operations in the city center from Monday, June 29 to Friday, July 3, in preparation for the 50th Saarbrücken Old Town Festival.

In addition to the regular cleaning, the ZKE wet-cleans heavily used areas on Türkenstraße, Katholisch-Kirch-Straße, and Faßstraße with a specialized vehicle.

ZKE plant manager Björn Althaus: “The Old Town Festival is a highlight for our city – and the ZKE ensures that the city center is in top shape for it. At the same time, we would like to invite all visitors to use the provided trash bins and contribute together to a well-kept environment.”

Background

To promote civic engagement for more cleanliness, the state capital, together with citizens' initiatives and the ZKE, launched the campaign "Clean is More Beautiful" in 2007. The municipal enterprise supports cleanliness actions by clubs and citizens' initiatives and provides information on the topic of urban cleanliness.
