Issued on: 30.06.2026 Press release 96/2026 A modern home for the village community: Replacement new building of the Rimlingen community center officially opened The municipality of Losheim am See received around 1.7 million euros in federal and state funds as part of urban development funding for the comprehensive redesign of social infrastructure. The dismantling of the previous building was also financially supported with around 200,000 euros. With the replacement new building of the Rimlingen community center, a modern and multifunctional meeting place for the village community has now been officially handed over for its intended use. The new Rimlingen community center is part of the overall project "Losheim am See – Districts," which has been implemented since 2020 under the "Growth and Sustainable Renewal" program of urban development funding. The goal is to sustainably strengthen the town centers, secure the village identity, and create contemporary meeting and usage spaces for all generations. The community center was designed as a central component for communal life in the districts of Rimlingen and Bachem. In the future, it is intended to serve as a multifunctional space for sports, cultural events, private celebrations, as a meeting place and youth center. This sustainably strengthens civic life on site and adapts the social infrastructure to demographic changes. Interior Minister Reinhold Jost: "The new Rimlingen community center is a strong sign of vibrant districts and future-oriented development in rural areas. Here, a modern focal point of village life is being created that brings people together and promotes community. Whether sports, culture, social encounters, or youth gatherings – this building provides space for everything that makes community life at home. These are exactly the kinds of places we need to keep our villages lively and attractive." The total cost of the project amounts to around 2.64 million euros.
