press information District Town of Homburg Three more important steps for the Waldstadion City Council unanimously stays on course for the already decided renovation The already decided renovation of the Homburg Waldstadion is taking further shape. The Homburg City Council cleared the next hurdles towards the defined goal in its recent meeting: "We can now finally take action, and I hope that we can also adhere to our planned timeline," said Mayor Michael Forster on Thursday evening. This followed the unanimous votes of the City Council on three agenda items related to the Waldstadion: First, the council approved the awarding of contracts for the individual trades – these must be tendered Europe-wide. Subsequently, the body expressed its support for the continuation of project management for the stadium's renovation. The administration thus received the green light for the awarding of contracts after a previously conducted Europe-wide tender. Finally, the council members authorized the city administration to award the contract for the conversion of the existing floodlight system to LED. The proposal stated: The existing floodlight system in the Waldstadion was installed in 1990 and is no longer state-of-the-art. The total of 204 lights have a rated power of 2,250 watts per light fixture. An increasing number of the currently installed halogen metal halide lamps are failing. According to EU regulations, these lamps are no longer placed on the market, so only remaining stocks are available. After conducting an energy calculation, energy consumption can be reduced by about 60 percent through the use of the latest LED technology.
